Manchester Community Service Spring 2019
Kayla Hubbard- Animal Shelter Donations
In today’s world, there are more and more animals whose only home is a cold, depressing metal cage in an animal shelter; where they spend their days wondering if anyone cares or loves them. Some of these animals are adopted, but for most of them, the shelter will be the only place they will know. Shelters do their best to provide a loving home to these animals, but it is difficult when supplies run low. The animal shelters ask for donations to help take care of these animals while they are under their care. That is why I took it upon myself to donate to the Laurel County Animal Shelter for my community service project. I donated items such as puppy training pads, dog food, cat food, puppy food, leashes, bleach, paper towels, and pet shampoo. The animal shelter desperately needs these items and more, they are grateful to receive any number of items that people are willing to donate. However, I decided to do more for the animal shelter and started a donation drive where I ask my fellow students at EKU Manchester to donate as well, but I also asked the students at my local high school (Clay County High School) to be involved. I am glad to help the animal shelter as much as I can, it feels great to put some good into bettering the community.
Bethany and Tracey- Donations for Parachute Recovery Center, London, KY
Bethany & Tracey gathered up supplies for Parachute Recovery Center in London, it’s a rehab facility for women who need help. The women at Parachute Recovery Center were all very thankful and several almost cried at the thought of people willing to help them out when they feel at their lowest point. All it takes sometime is a couple of people who put in the effort to help someone and someone's life could be changed forever.
