Tiana Simpson- Toy Drive

For the Toy Drive I decorated Tin Bins with Christmas decor and placed them at S&S Auto Sales on 25 And on at Lynn Camp High School on 830 with signs and flyers to donate to children living at our local homeless shelter. Many amazing patrons donated new and lightly used toys to this cause. Teachers spread the word to their students and I handed out flyers at the home football games. All together I think we received a total of 53 toys and stuffed animals. That is 53 children’s days that may become just a little brighter. I then took the stuffed animals to Everlasting Arm, our Knox County Homeless Shelter. The drop was made on November 4th.  Now underprivileged children may have comfort items to help them through their hard times. No, it doesn’t cure everything for them, but it is a step for hope in the right direction.

Alpha Phi Sigma -Theta Xi and Lambda Alpha Epsilon-Theta Gamma Epsilon, along with the members of the Criminal Justice Student Body- Food Drive

Alpha Phi Sigma -Theta Xi and Lambda Alpha Epsilon-Theta Gamma Epsilon, along with the members of the Criminal Justice student body sponsored a food drive to support children and families in need, from the tri-county area.

Each student was responsible for contributing:  food, time and effort.  Several businesses allowed boxes to be placed at their locations:  Subway of Williamsburg, Baird and Blevins Law Office of Corbin and McCreary Counties, W.D. Bryant’s of Corbin, First National Bank and Trust of London, Lily Baptist Church and EKU Corbin Campus.   Fellow students of EKU along with their families and friends were encouraged to donate to this worthy cause.

The food drive proved successful and was able to be beneficial to: EKU Corbin Campus (2 families in need were provided food boxes), Barbourville City School Resource Centers and Come Unity Co-Op Care.  We feel honored as a student body to be able to be of service to our community. Students pictured are: Haley Hudson, Savannah Finley, Haley Brock, Glenn Johnson, Houston Nolan, Tonya Fields, Candice Gulley, and Jordyn Canady.

This fundraiser was held Oct. 07, 2018 from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM and raised $187.10. All proceeds went towards this program.
