1. Why did you select Eastern Kentucky University?
When it came down to choosing a college that would benefit me the most, Eastern Kentucky University hands down beat my other options. I knew I wanted a degree in Criminal Justice and Eastern is known nationwide as being a top Criminal Justice college. Also, the regional campus was a big plus too because I could still live in Somerset and not worry as much about commuting to Richmond multiple times each week.
2. Why did you select Criminal Justice?
I have always had a desire to help people in one way or another. A career in law enforcement would allow me to serve my community and help others in my community at the same time. Plus, I have always seen myself going into law enforcement so choosing a Criminal Justice was a no-brainer.
3. What are your educational goals?
My educational goals are to graduate with my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in spring 2015 and then continue on towards my master’s degree in Criminal Justice. This will open up more opportunities for me later in my career.
4. When did you begin your degree at Eastern Kentucky University?
I began my journey at Eastern Kentucky during the fall 2013 year. I am proud to say that I will graduate with a bachelor degree at the end of the Spring 2015 semester.
5. What is your career goal?
My career goal is to be hired by a local or state law enforcement agency. I want to give back to the community that I’ve grown up in and serving as a law enforcement officer allows me to do that. If I decide to move toward a federal law enforcement job, completing my Master’s degree will give me a better opportunity to do so.
6. What advice would you give prospective students considering EKU and Criminal Justice/Police Studies?
My advice to prospective students considering Eastern would be to look into all of the benefits that Eastern has to offer. The easily accessible regional campuses, the benefit of online classes, and the friendliness of professors really make this a great college to attend. Anyone who is considering Criminal Justice as his or her major could not go wrong here. You have the best staff with personal experience in Criminal Justice. That is why Eastern is one of the nation’s most respected colleges for Criminal Justice.
